The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has chosen the ex-editor of Channel One, Marina Ovsyannikova, house arrest until October 9 as a preventive measure in the case of fakes about the Russian army. The court granted the requirement of the investigation. The journalist faces up to ten years in prison.
Mrs. Ovsyannikova 10 August charged according to paragraph “d” part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (dissemination of false information about the use of armed forces based on political, ideological, racial, national or religious hatred or enmity, or based on hatred or enmity against any social group).
Marina Ovsyannikova became famous after she appeared with an anti-war poster on the air of the Vremya program on Channel One on March 15. After that, her three times fined – in an administrative case on violation of the rules for holding a rally and in two cases on discrediting the Russian armed forces.
