The water conduit from the Don River to the Donetsk People’s Republic is completely ready. Work is underway to complete it. Soon the water from it will go to consumers in Donetsk. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin.
“Today it is already completely ready; in the near future, water will already be supplied to the Donetsk agglomeration,” Marat Khusnullin said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the conduit was built in five months, its length was 200 km.
In January, ex-Prime Minister of the DPR Vitaly Khotsenko informedthat the capacity of the conduit will be about 30 thousand cubic meters per day. Initially, the authorities promised to launch the water pipeline in test mode from March 1.
In August, DPR authorities said that the Verkhnekalmiusskaya filtration plant, which supplies Donetsk with water, had stopped working due to low water levels. This happened as a result of hostilities. Since that time, water in Donetsk served once every three days.
