Manturov spoke about plans to double the production of domestic electronics

Russia intends to double the share of domestic electronics in the domestic market in 2023, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov at a government hour in the Federation Council, transmit “RIA News”.

“Last year alone, the production of more than a thousand electronics products was mastered. We will continue to build momentum to double Russia’s share of the domestic market this year. In absolute terms, this is still not enough, of course. But we set the task to increase our presence to 70% by 2030,” the minister said.

As Manturov noted, now the “strategic emphasis” is on overcoming dependence on foreign technologies along the entire chain of electronic products creation.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a strategic session on strengthening technological sovereignty notedthat the concept of Russia’s technological development, designed for the next eight years, involves radically new approaches. The prime minister again recalled that strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty is one of the key tasks previously outlined by the Russian president.

Last summer, Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market will allow the country to get rid of the “dangerous and humiliating dependence” on Western technologies. In February this year, the head of state declaredthat scientists in Russia need in a short period of time to create “products ahead of the curve” and developments that can ensure the technological sovereignty of the country. Putin emphasized that it is necessary to act in this case “in advance” so that “unique, globally competitive solutions” would be created in Russia that would allow the country to be technologically independent.
