Russia is ahead of Western countries in the production of weapons, says Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. In his opinion, the Russian Federation began to pick up the pace of production and reached it “earlier than Western countries,” but “another question is how long this race will last in principle.”

The Deputy Prime Minister said “RIA News”that the country has an understanding of where to move next. It is necessary to replenish stocks and “maintain the given production rate.” “But as far as Western countries have the courage, I wouldn’t want to answer for them here. So far we are moving ahead with a certain advance,” said Mr. Manturov.

In Russia, production is carried out within the framework of the weapons program and the long-term program, which will be approved in 2024 for the period 2025–2034. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, a number of departments are actively working to verify and prepare the parameters of the long-term program, primarily the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in early December saidthat over the 11 months of 2023, the production of armored vehicles tripled, aviation equipment and UAVs doubled compared to the same period in 2022. According to him, the issues of providing armed forces personnel with field uniforms and equipment have been resolved.
