Manturov invited Belarus to assemble Ladoga and Baikal aircraft

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Denis Manturov, proposed to organize the assembly of small aircraft “Ladoga” and “Baikal” in Belarus. About this in an interview with RIA Novosti told Ambassador of Belarus Dmitry Krutoy.

“An important direction for us is the proposal of Denis Valentinovich Manturov to try to assemble or participate in the assembly of Ladoga and Baikal civil small aircraft on the territory of Belarus. For us, this is a unique opportunity, a new competence, a new area by and large, a new part of the economy,” said Krutoy.

The parties can discuss this issue during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the Innoprom exhibition, which will be held in Yekaterinburg from 10 to 13 July.

The development and production of aircraft is carried out by order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Baikal prototype made its first flight in Yekaterinburg at the end of January 2022. The new device should become a replacement for the Soviet-designed An-2 “corncob”. The plane is designed for 9-12 seats. In September 2022 reportedthat its production will start in 2024.

The aircraft “Ladoga” is designed for 44 seats. It will replace the obsolete An-24s. In March, Krasavia Airlines and the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) Deal on the delivery of 20 aircraft to the Krasnoyarsk Territory from 2026 to 2030. According to the program for the development of the Russian aviation industry, it is planned to produce 140 Ladoga aircraft by 2030. Their mass production should begin in 2026.
