Manturov announced a reduction in the export of Russian metallurgical products

Export of Russian metallurgical products in the II quarter of this year decreased by 20%, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

“Russian metallurgists are now working in conditions of limited access to Western markets, exports in the II quarter decreased by about 20%,” Manturov said during a meeting on the development of the metallurgical complex (quote according to RIA Novosti).

According to him, there is a significant decline in domestic consumption in the industry, the capacity utilization of enterprises in the industry has decreased from an average of 93 to 80%. Manturov noted that export for Russian metallurgists at the current exchange rate of the ruble is unprofitable, and sometimes it is not economically feasible at all.

Earlier today, President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia will always be a reliable supplier of steel products, regardless of any political circumstances. At the same time, the head of state pointed out that the country would not work to its own detriment with those who show “obviously unfriendly attitude” towards it. This also applies to other export goods, he explained.

At today’s meeting, the strategy for the development of domestic metallurgy until 2030 should also be discussed. According to the president, it should contain not only measures to overcome current difficulties and support Russian metallurgists, but also guidelines for the long-term development of the industry.
