Malinovka against the World Cup: skiers enter correspondence competitions

[ad_1]

…This video dedicated to the World Ski Championships in Planica 2023, which included footage of our stars Natalia Nepryaeva and Alexander Bolshunov, has literally become an illustration of today’s sentiments towards Russian athletes. And it is impossible to forget, and it is forbidden to remember.

The video was made by the International Ski Federation. On the footage, Alexander Bolshunov is fighting the Norwegian Johannes Klebo, and Natalya Nepryaeva is fighting the Finnish Anne Kyllenen. It was impossible not to recognize our heroes in him, not quite the same wild people did.

But following its release, the FIS spokesperson for skiing and snowboarding, Sunne Dürhaug, apologized for the appearance on the video of people who are forbidden to appear on the track. Dürhaug said that it was her mistake, she was sorry, and these fragments should not have been included in the video. Well, who knows, maybe I really didn’t think that now we need to remove Russia from the past as well.

The World Championship will be held in Slovenia from February 21 to March 5. On the same days and almost hours when the skiers run in Planica, ours will also start. But in Malinovka, at the “Champion’s Heights”. And the ski program of our start repeats the program in Planica.

Elena Vyalbe announced that all the strongest will perform in Malinovka. And, by the way, athletes were selected for the “Champion Heights” almost as usual for the World Championships.

The tasks of all skiers are different, someone has health problems – this season cannot be called serene in terms of diseases. For example, Alexander Bolshunov, Denis Spitsov, Artem Maltsev, Maria Istomina, Daria Nepryaeva did not survive at the last training camp in Sochi before the “Champion Heights” … Everything, of course, will depend on the readiness and capabilities of the athletes on a particular day. According to coach Yuri Borodavko, it will be necessary to look at who to let out and at what distances according to the condition of those who have been ill.

The rest of the skiers were trained quite calmly and evenly. And those athletes who are universal skiers will participate in almost all races. And, for example, it makes no sense for Terentyev to go to all distances. As well as Yulia Stupak, who will enter the tracks after health problems that prevented her from performing in the season.

But almost everyone who came to Malinovka is determined to work to the maximum. And they say, like Sergey Ustyugov: I would like to run all the races, let’s see how it goes.

The whole season of the battle on the track and beyond – the story of the “bags”, the clashes of Bolshunov and Ustyugov, the daring victories of Savely Korostelev, the “golden” performances of each of the pair Natalya Nepryaeva and Alexander Terentyev, who gained strength Veronika Stepanova, who did not compete all season, but Julia Stupak, suddenly discovered on the Italian slopes, actively fueled interest in cross-country skiing.

Competition in Russian skiing is really at a high level. And the competitions in Malinovka are really perceived by many as an alternative to the World Cup. So the preparation was carried out in accordance with the calendar.

Malinovka is located in the Arkhangelsk region. Alexander Bolshunov arrived at the start just as part of the Arkhangelsk Region team; Natalya Nepryaeva and Alexander Terentyev also enter it. The national team of the country has been holding training camps in Malinovka for a long time, the track is familiar to the athletes. And, as Vyalbe says, there are no easy tracks in Russia. If we do it, then do it internationally.

The chief judge of the competition Alexander Penievskoy – his words are quoted by the official website of the competition – says that traditional tracks have been prepared for the “Champion Heights”, which are certified by the International Ski Racing Federation. This means that they fully comply with all the requirements and standards for world-class competitions.

And the most interesting in Malinovka is the track, which will be used during separate starts at 10 and 15 km, as well as mass starts at 30 and 50 km. It is famous for its unique ascent almost to the very top of the ski slope. It is clear that this requires maximum endurance from athletes.

From the rise, the serpentine of slopes will lead the skiers to the finish line. Whom and at what time is to be seen both by us and foreign rivals. They will also look after Malinovka, there is no doubt.
