Mail.ru has launched a new xmail.ru domain for users to transfer letters from their accounts in foreign mail services, reported VK press service
“When switching to a new domain, the former mailbox name of the foreign mail service will be retained with the new email address. It will start with the previous login and end with xmail.ru,” the message says.
After registration, the user will be able to transfer letters and their attachments from the previous account, and letters coming to the previous mail address will be saved. There will also be an opportunity to write letters on behalf of a foreign mailbox, they promise in VK.
The holding also emphasized that a mailbox in the xmail.ru domain is available only for transferring an account from foreign services; standard domain names used by the company will be offered to create a new mailbox.
July 31 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law prohibiting registration on Russian websites using foreign electronic mail services. From December 1, Russians will be able to register on such resources only by using the phone number of a Russian telecom operator, through the Gosuslug portal or the Unified Biometric System (UBS), as well as using information systems owned by a citizen of the Russian Federation or a Russian legal entity.
