Maigurov overtook Nuzhdov in the fight for the presidency of the RBU

The election conference of the RBU, which was again preceded by a series of scandals, nevertheless determined the president of the organization. The head of the Russian Biathlon Union, Viktor Maigurov, who came to the leadership of biathlon in the summer of 2020, will continue his activities as president.
A total of 54 delegates participated in the conference. The elections were held by secret ballot, like the first ones held in June this year, but they could not determine which of the two candidates for the post – Viktor Maygurov or Aleksey Nuzhdov – should head the organization. At today’s conference, the closed voting format was again chosen.
Victor Maygurov won with 31 votes, Alexey Nuzhdov won with 23 votes. In the first elections, the balance of power was as follows: 35 votes against 18. None of the candidates won the 2/3 votes necessary for victory. In the October 14 vote, a simple majority was enough to win.
The ballots were counted in the presence of the delegates of the extraordinary RBU conference.
