The Paris office of Macron’s Renaissance party has been raided in connection with a case involving the financing of the presidential campaign by the consulting firm McKinsey.
Earlier last month, the French press reported that the investigation was linked to suspicions of possible illegal financing of Macron’s campaign in the 2017 elections.
The financial prosecutor’s office suspects the American consulting company of “favoritism” on the part of the president and tax evasion.
Initially, the investigation, launched in March, was linked to money laundering by private consulting companies and non-payment of corporate tax. The case file indicated, among other things, that the French office of McKinsey had probably not paid taxes for the past 10 years.
