France will not be the initiator of aggression in Ukraine, but is ready to react if the conflict escalates, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to Macron, Paris is “ready for any challenge if there is another round of escalation on the part of the Russian Federation.” According to the French leader, his country will demonstrate a reaction if it is necessary for European and Ukrainian security.
He also refused to talk about “opening a second front,” saying France did not need “another war.” At the same time, Macron once again stated “the absence of limits” and readiness to respond to the actions of the Russian Federation.
Macron also said that he is not currently putting forward “offensive initiatives,” noting that they do not correspond to the “spirit of collective solidarity.”
