At present, there is no reason to talk about the possibility of sending a French or other Western army to the territory of Ukraine, said Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office.

According to him, such a step requires an “appropriate decision” from NATO member states.

“Ukraine, unfortunately, today is not a member of NATO,” he said, noting that “if Russia goes further, then this collegial decision of the NATO member countries will have to be made.” At the same time, the Ukrainian official clarified that the reason for this would be “the threat of a Russian attack on NATO countries.”

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, in an interview with Ukrainian television channels, said that his country “will not be the initiator of aggression in Ukraine, but is ready to react in the event of an escalation of the conflict.” According to Macron, Paris is “ready for any challenge if there is another round of escalation on the part of the Russian Federation.” He also refused to talk about “opening a second front,” saying France did not need “another war.” At the same time, Macron once again stated “the absence of limits” and readiness to respond to the actions of the Russian Federation. Macron also said that he is not currently putting forward “offensive initiatives,” noting that they do not correspond to the “spirit of collective solidarity.”
