Macron announced the launch of a corridor for the supply of fertilizers from Russia in the coming weeks

The corridor for the supply of fertilizers from Russia to African countries will be launched in the coming weeks, French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference following the G20 summit.

“A new corridor has been created for the delivery of Russian fertilizers to Africa through Europe. The first deliveries will take place in the coming weeks.” leads his words TASS.

The corridor, said Macron, was created with the support of the UN World Food Program.

Earlier, the G20 agreed on a joint statement following the summit in Bali, in which the participating countries supported extension of the grain deal and opposed restrictions that prevent the export of fertilizers and food. States called for assistance to those countries that were most affected by the food crisis. The G20 pointed to the need to remove humanitarian activities from sanctions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on November 15 that UN Secretary General António Guterres “sworn” to guarantee the fulfillment of promises to facilitate the export of Russian fertilizers and grain under one of the deal’s agreements. Guterres himself said in Bali that “many obstacles” that prevented the export of these Russian goods have now been removed.

At the end of October, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Latvia, Estonia, Belgium and the Netherlands were blocking fertilizers that Russia was ready to transfer to the poorest countries. According to the ministry, Russian companies are still unable to commercially supply fertilizers – they are also unable to donate about 300,000 tons of products to the poorest countries.
