French President Emmanuel Macron, during a visit to Gabon, said that the “French Africa” policy, which meant the protectorate of Paris in relation to the former colonies, has been completed and is being replaced by a “balanced partnership.”
“This era of Franceafrique is over,” Macron said during an address to the French community in Gabon.
According to the politician, he often hears that “France is credited with intentions that she no longer has.” He assured that Paris is not trying to influence Gabon’s internal politics and that his visit is only meant to “demonstrate his friendship and respect for the country and people.” Macron added that he intends to build partnerships in various areas – the economy, industry, ecology and others for the common good.
