Families with children and people with limited mobility are being evacuated from Kyiv-controlled Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region. This is reported by the city military administration in its Telegram channel.
The decision was made on February 27 due to security concerns due to the “unstable situation”. It is noted that for families with children and people with limited mobility, evacuation is mandatory, the rest of the residents can voluntarily leave the city.
Vitaly Ganchev, head of the Russian-controlled military-civilian administration of the Kharkiv region, in a conversation with RIA Novosti declaredthat people are forcibly taken out of the city. According to him, the houses are given to the Ukrainian military. Ganchev also noted the tense situation in the Kupyansk region. According to him, the Russian army “is pushing the enemy back more and more.”
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin called it the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
In addition, the fighting is going on in the Kharkiv region. In February, Ganchev on the air of the TV channel “Russia-24” declaredthat about 20 settlements in the region are under Russian control.
