Swiss edition Luzerner Zeitung reported that the head of the department of social services and health of the canton of Lucerne, Guido Graf, was accused of racism. This happened after his statements regarding Ukrainian refugees.
Recall that earlier in an interview with the newspaper Blick, he said that in some cases Ukrainians “are more demanding than other people who are seeking asylum.” He stressed that local residents are dissatisfied when refugees receive social assistance and at the same time drive expensive SUVs.
According to the Luzerner Zeitung, following these statements, Graf was accused of “racism”. Cantonal MP Urban Fry said Graf was spreading “deliberately negative generalizations” about refugees.
Among other things, he demanded that the local authorities disclose information regarding the situation of Ukrainian refugees in Lucerne. In particular, data on how many of them have cars and receive social assistance.
