The details were told to us by the star of Soviet cinema, Lyudmila Zaitseva, People’s Artist of the RSFSR, friend and “part-time” neighbor of the actor beloved by many generations.
“Yes, he is in the hospital now,” Zaitseva said. – I personally did not see how the ambulance took him away. I only know that the resuscitation team arrived and Andryusha was taken away. How could you take so many pills? Yes, these are some rumors: he took a little more than the dose, but they already write that all 45 tablets. No no! He was normal, not unconscious, fully sane. Our common neighbor told me about it. She rang the doorbell for me and said: “Andrey Leonidovich was taken away, this is how the story happened.” I don’t know all the details, but I realized that at first his doctor, who patronizes Andryusha, sounded the alarm, called someone, asked who had the keys to his apartment. We have such a woman. The doctor opened the door. And Andrei was just a little relaxed, inhibited, but he understood everything, he thought. If he drank as much medicine as they say, he would immediately fall off his feet. And he didn’t even want to go to the hospital, he said: “I won’t go, that’s all.” And no gas, as they now write, was opened in the apartment, no leakage! All was good.
– There is also information that Andrei Martynov has recently suffered from oncology, maybe that’s why he drank sedatives?
– All this was invented! If he had such a terrible disease, I would certainly know about it. We all get sick, everyone at our age has their own sores. He, of course, is not young (Martynov is 77 years old. — Auth.). I know that Andryusha has problems with his eyes, he doesn’t see well, he doesn’t walk well …
Have you been living near him for a long time?
– A long time ago. From youth. They even exchanged apartments once, when he was left alone in a four-room apartment. That changed then to my “kopeck piece”. Now we sometimes walk with him in the yard, we have a nice little park there. Although I haven’t seen him in a long time. I live on the other floor. So what? Everyone has their own routine right now. For two days I had a whole film crew standing under the windows to find out about Andrey. But I don’t read anything, I don’t look about it and I don’t want to!
I’m sure everything will be fine with him, everything will be fine. Everyone ends up in the hospital sometimes…
Are his son and grandchildren who live abroad aware of his condition?
– I have no idea, alas, there are no connections with them. But Martynov has people who will take care of him, including his friends.
