The verdict against the notorious businessman Viktor Baturin – vice-president of the Inteko company, former brother-in-law of Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov – was handed down on Tuesday, November 14, by the Simonovsky District Court of the capital. He was found guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code – fraud and falsification of evidence.
Let us remind you that the case against him was opened at the request of his sister, the former owner of Inteko and the widow of the ex-mayor Elena Baturina. She suspected her brother of forging a document about his share in the company (25% worth almost 14 billion rubles) and demanding compensation for it.
The central office of the Investigative Committee was involved in the Baturin case. The businessman was arrested in July 2021, and a year later his case went to court. During the debate between the parties on October 27, the prosecution requested 7 years and 6 months in prison for him.
At the trial, Baturin, dressed in jeans and a denim jacket, smiled and said that he felt “a plus. I did a terrible thing – I gave my sister a fortune,” he added. He also said that as a matter of principle he would not apply for parole.
The court found Baturin guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison and a fine of 500 thousand rubles.
