Luna-25 mission apparatus was brought to the Vostochny cosmodrome

For the first time in almost half a century, a Russian automatic station will go to the natural satellite of the Earth

The spacecraft of the first mission in the history of the modern Russian Federation to the natural satellite of the Earth “Luna-25” was delivered to the Vostochny cosmodrome. About this on Tuesday, July 11, reported in Roscosmos.

“July 10 station (“Luna-25” – approx. ed.) sent from the enterprise to the cosmodrome, where it was delivered today by air and road transport, ”the press service of the state corporation emphasized.

Earlier, Roscosmos reported that the launch of the Luna-25 spacecraft, taking into account the astronomical “window” in 2023, is planned to be carried out in August. It has been rescheduled for a year from July 2022. The spacecraft under the Russian program will go to the Moon for the first time in 46 years.

Before being sent to the Vostochny cosmodrome, the Scientific and Production Association (NPO) named after S.A. Lavochkin, where Luna-25 was manufactured, the spacecraft passed acceptance and delivery tests. Now he is waiting for pre-flight preparation, final ground tests and docking with the Frigate block. All this will already be carried out at the cosmodrome itself.

The automatic station “Luna-25” should become the first domestic device in the recent history of the Russian Federation, which will go to the natural satellite of the Earth. The direction of the automatic probe for research in the region of the south pole of the moon is the purpose of the launch. The module is expected to land near the lunar crater Boguslavsky.
