“Luna-25”: a device for navigating an automatic station was developed in the capital

“Luna-25” went in flight to the Earth’s satellite on August 11. This is the first station of its kind in the modern history of the country. The station’s navigation in outer space will be provided by a device developed in Moscow.

“The Capital Research and Production Center for Automation and Instrumentation named after academician N.A. Pilyugin (“NPTSAP”) was given the task of creating a completely Russian device as soon as possible. This is how the Bius-L inertial unit was developed, which is designed to determine orientation and acceleration using fiber-optic gyroscopes and an accelerometer,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

He added that the device is made entirely of Russian components, including electronics. In addition, an integrated inertial satellite control system for the Fregat upper stage was also developed at NPTsAP. With the help of this instrument, the station entered the flight path to the Moon.

According to Alexander Sapozhnikov, First Deputy General Designer, the control system of the Fregat launch vehicle ensures the effective fulfillment of the tasks of launching spacecraft into departure trajectories or target orbits. For Frigate, this is the 117th launch in history.

Recall that more than 30 organizations of the rocket and space industry operate in the capital. They employ 30 thousand people. These are scientists and engineers who develop spacecraft.
