The oil company LUKOIL acquires a 100% stake in FC Spartak and the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium. The president of Spartak, Leonid Fedun, who has held this post since 2004, will also leave the management of the club.

“In connection with the withdrawal from the club’s shareholders, Leonid Fedun resigns as president, member and chairman of the board of directors of JSC FC Spartak Moscow and will not take part in the management of the club,” the company said in a press release published in Telegram channel companies.

Mr. Fedun also commented on his departure from the club: “I want to express my sincere gratitude to my friends and colleagues from the LUKOIL company for agreeing to support such a significant social project as Spartak in this most difficult situation. I leave them with a competitive young team with an ambitious coach, as well as a highly professional management team. And, of course, a great stadium.” He added that his farewell is “not an obituary” and said that the new management of the club can count on his help.

LUKOIL plans to improve the club’s management system and attract new specialists to the management of Spartak in order to “create a more transparent and collegial decision-making mechanism.”
