Lukashenko: West wanted to start a war in Donbass in 2020

Western countries after the coup in Belarus in 2020 planned to start a war in the Donbass, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel, promising to publish the facts confirming this information.

“You were preparing for it (the West for war). And in the near future we will publish these facts, as they should have been after the 2020 rebellion in Belarus, if the situation develops and they go to the border with the Smolensk region, NATO with troops will seize power from us, start a war with Russia from the Donbass. The reason was supposed to be that Russia seized foreign territories. From there, the war was supposed to start in 2021-2022,” leads his words to RIA Novosti.

On October 10, Lukashenko announced the increased threats that come from Western countries against the republic. In particular, Lukashenka claimed that Kyiv was working on opening a second front on the border with the republic. In this regard, Russia and Belarus agreed to deploy a joint regional group of troops. Lukashenka instructed to deploy a small part of the Russian military in the territory of the republic.

October 14 in Belarus introduced high terrorist threat. On October 31, the Belarusian leader signed a decree on the establishment of joint combat training centers with Russia for the military of the two countries.

On December 3, it became known that the Ministers of Defense of the Russian Federation and Belarus, Sergei Shoigu and Viktor Khrenin signed protocol amending the agreement between the two countries in the field of security. On December 6, planned activities began in the republic to maintain the combat and mobilization readiness of the country’s troops. December 7-8 in the republic was carried out verification of the state system of response to acts of terrorism.
