Lukashenko proposed to update the CSTO collective security strategy

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the secretaries of the security councils of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) announced it would be expedient to think about the concept of a new strategy for the organization’s collective security for the period up to 2035, transmits agency “BelTA”.

“Taking into account the large-scale transformation of threats, it is already expedient to think over the concept of a new strategy for the organization’s collective security for the period up to 2035,” the Belarusian president said. This also needs to be done taking into account the fact that the existing document was adopted in 2016 and is calculated until 2025.

At the end of May, Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat the international situation is characterized by increasing instability and the emergence of new hotbeds of tension. According to him, this situation is directly related to the actions of a number of countries that want to “preserve, maintain their dominance, impose their own rules, completely ignoring the sovereignty, national interests, traditions of other states.” At the same time, they are constantly building up their military potential and interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, Putin noted.

The head of state emphasized that these countries are also trying to benefit from the energy and food crises that were provoked by a number of Western countries.

An alternative to this policy, Putin called strengthening stability, building a system of unified indivisible security, as well as solving large-scale tasks to ensure economic, technological and social development.
