Belarus can receive about $2 billion from Russia for joint import substitution projects, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said.
“Joint projects on import substitution. Now Russia is providing us with approximately $2 billion for these joint projects,” he said (quote according to TASS) during an open history lesson in schools during the live broadcast “Historical memory is the road to the future!”.
In July Russia singled out Belarus $1.5 billion to participate in import substitution programs. At the end of May, speaking at the first Eurasian Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country has the opportunity to work with Belarus in a number of areas related to cooperation, wrote TASS. Belarus, he said, has retained important competencies for the Russian Federation, including microelectronics.
Earlier, Lukashenka announced Russia’s readiness provide 1 million tons of grain, despite an initial request of 500,000 tons. This additional crop reserve could be useful as animal feed and livestock and poultry development, he said.
