Lukashenko accused Ukraine of breaking the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Ukraine was to blame for the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, adding that “the hat is on fire on the thief.”

“You can probably guess who blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP. They say a thief’s hat is on fire. Who was the first to shout about it? It is clear that the Ukrainian side had to hide the three days of the “counterattack”, where almost two hundred armored vehicles were destroyed and more than 2,000 people died,” leads his words “BelTA”.

Lukashenka also drew attention in this regard to the cautious position of the United States on this issue.

“They immediately said: “We can’t say yet who did it. We need to figure it out.” Think, why would it? – added the Belarusian president.

The breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region occurred on the night of June 6. As a result of the incident, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, the level of which reached about 11 m. Earlier, a local emergency regime was introduced on the territory of the district, and an emergency regime was also introduced on the territory of the Kherson region. According to the authorities of the region, 35 settlements were in the flood zone. As a result of the incident, 5 people were killed, another 41 were injured, said Vladimir Leontyev, head of the Novokakhovsk urban district.

According to the statement of the administration of the Kherson region, the dam was subjected to shelling by the Ukrainian army for a long time and after another blow began to collapse. On June 7, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said that a day before the accident, Kyiv began to dump water from the Dnieper hydroelectric power station, exacerbating the detrimental consequences.

The Russian side blamed Ukraine for the incident. So, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov called the breakthrough of the hydroelectric power station a deliberate sabotage by the Ukrainian side. President Vladimir Putin himself called the incident a barbaric action by the Ukrainian authorities, which led to a large-scale environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. Kyiv, in turn, blamed the Russian side for what happened.
