Lukashenka: We must not lose relations with EU countries

Belarus needs to maintain relations with the countries of the European Union, said President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko.

“Now we live primarily at the expense of the East – we cooperate with Russia and China. But we must not forget about the high-tech West. They are nearby, they are our neighbors – the European Union. And you can’t lose relations with them, ”- leads his words “BelTA”.

Minsk is ready to develop relations with Western countries, taking into account its own interests, Lukashenka stressed, adding that he instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to propose a plan for good neighborliness and peace, including Poland.

“We are neighbors, but neighbors are not chosen, they are from God. But they have parliamentary elections on October 15, and, of course, they need to escalate, escalate the situation now in order to show that they properly armed and re-armed the country,” Lukashenka believes.

At the beginning of August, the EU expanded sanctions against Belarus for bypassing restrictions against Russia. Thus, deliveries to the republic of products that contribute to the “military-technical improvement” of the country, including firearms and ammunition, goods and technologies for use in aviation and the space industry, were banned.

Formerly Warsaw announced about plans to deploy 10,000 troops on the border with Belarus. On the evening of August 1, the Polish Ministry of Defense stated that two Belarusian helicopters violated the country’s airspace during exercises near the village of Belovezha. Minsk called these accusations far-fetched. On August 5, Warsaw accused Wagner PMC fighters of trying to infiltrate Polish territory.
