Knutov assessed the possibility of the destruction of the Karamyshevskaya hydroelectric power station by a drone

Director of the Air Defense Forces Museum in Balashikha, Yuri Knutov, commented on reports that, according to preliminary estimates, the explosion in the Karamyshevskaya Embankment area was Ukrainian UAV “Bober”. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the drone was neutralized by electronic warfare and fell in a forest belt. Knutov assessed the possibility of destroying the Karamyshevskaya hydroelectric power station with such an apparatus.

According to the expert, Ukraine has recently often used Beaver-type drones, which are made of composite materials, for attacks. Therefore, radars can detect only the engine of these vehicles. As Knutov noted in broadcast radio station “Moscow Says”, a similar UAV has a charge weighing six kilograms with serious destructive capabilities, for example, it can break through a concrete wall.

“But I don’t think that the Bober UAV is capable of destroying a hydroelectric power plant. The charge that it has is not enough,” he said. Knutov added that he could have caused some destruction at the hydroelectric power station, but most likely the goal was different.

The expert suggested that if the memory card remained intact, then Russian specialists would be able to establish where the drone took off from and what object was the target.

“UAVs of this type have already been used for attacks on Moscow,” Knutov also said, adding that these devices reach the capital because they fly at extremely low altitudes and overcome air defense sites almost unnoticed.

“Opponents are betting on single drones, because such a UAV can be confused with birds or atmospheric phenomena,” the director of the Air Defense Forces Museum also noted.
