Lukashenka said that members of the Wagner PMC began to “strain” him

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the Wagnerites “began to strain him,” as they announced their desire to “go on an excursion” to the West. The head of the Belarusian state spoke about this at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is taking place near St. Petersburg.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have said it, but I will. The Wagnerites began to strain us: “I want to go to the West. Allow us.” I say, why do you need to go to the West? “Well, go on an excursion to Warsaw, to Rzeszow,” – told Lukashenka (quote from TASS).

The President of the Republic, according to him, keeps the Wagner participants “in the center, as agreed”, Minsk “would not like to relocate them there, because their mood is bad.”

The fighters of a private military company, founded by Yevgeny Prigozhin, ended up in Belarus after an attempted armed rebellion in Russia. Agreements between Lukashenka and Prigozhin were reached on the evening of June 24. Then the founder of the PMC stopped the convoy, which was moving towards Moscow, and led the fighters out of Rostov-on-Don.

On July 20, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced joint exercises with Wagner at the Brestsky training ground – 13 km from the Brest checkpoint on the border with Poland. After that, Warsaw accepted decision to transfer military formations to the east of the country. The representative of the Committee on National Security and Defense Zbigniew Hoffman called the exercises in Belarus a provocation. According to him, the committee analyzed the possible threats to the deployment of PMC detachments, after which the Minister of Defense decided to “transfer military formations from the west to the east of Poland.” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Poland’s aggressiveness was a cause for concern.
