President Lukashenko congratulated pilot-cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya on her 75th birthday and noted her invaluable contribution to space exploration. This was reported by the press service of the President. “Becoming the first woman to go into outer space, you have made an invaluable contribution to the exploration of the expanses of the Universe by mankind,” the head of state said. “Your high personal and professional qualities have allowed you to reach the top in aviation sports and become a world record holder in the space field.”

Lukashenka also noted that Savitskaya was able to realize herself in scientific and pedagogical activities. The President stressed that her active work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, aimed at strengthening friendship and good neighborliness between the peoples of the two countries, deserves special gratitude.
