President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko left for a working visit to Uzbekistan, where he will join the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), informs on Thursday Belta agency.

As specified, the aircraft of the head of state took off from Bolbasovo airport near Orsha.

Earlier, the press service of the Ukrainian leader noted that Lukashenka would make a working visit to Uzbekistan on September 15-16 within the framework of the SCO summit scheduled in Samarkand. It is expected that the President of the Republic on September 16 will speak during a meeting in the expanded composition of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States, will talk about the priorities of Belarus’ interaction in the SCO format, taking into account the country’s previously submitted application for joining the international organization as a full member. Now Belarus has an observer status in the organization.

According to the press service, Lukashenka will meet with foreign colleagues during the summit.

Recall that the SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. It includes India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
