Lukashenka considers rumors about the absorption of Belarus by Russia an attempt to scold the countries

Reports that Russia’s strategy allegedly includes the absorption of Belarus by 2030 are an attempt to “cut” relations between the countries, said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. About it writes BelTA.

“They just want to cut us apart again. Therefore, this topic arose. There is nothing alive in it. You know my position, it is unchanged: we are an independent sovereign state. Being independent, sovereign, who stands next to Russia? Nobody but Belarus. What else do you need?” he said.

According to Lukashenko, each state has a strategy, including in relation to other countries, and Russia’s strategy in relation to Belarus “to live, as with their brothers, in peace and friendship.”

The President also said that the day before he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and assured that their views converge. “Therefore, do not listen to this nonsense and chatter. He was born to split us,” Lukashenka summed up.

On February 21, a number of foreign media, including Ukrainian ones, published an investigation stating that Russia allegedly plans to absorb Belarus by 2030. The authors claimed that they were allegedly able to gain access to the Kremlin’s internal document “Strategic goals of the Russian Federation in the Belarusian direction”, which stated that the Russian Federation allegedly plans to take control of certain areas in the short term, and in the long term – absorption.

In December 2022, Putin at a press conference following negotiations with Lukashenko already declaredthat “Russia has no interest in absorbing anyone.”
