Croatian national football team defender Dejan Lovren clashed with journalists from Croatia after his team’s victory over Morocco in the match for third place at the 2022 World Cup, informs “Sport-Express”.
Lovren, passing through the mixed zone, did not stop near the Croatian journalists, but approached the representatives of foreign media.
Hearing laughter from his compatriots, the athlete returned to them and asked: “Who is laughing?”.
“We didn’t laugh at you,” the journalist replied to the footballer. However, Lovren continued: “What is this method? You are against us, you laugh and mock us.” He also said that representatives of the Croatian media are “not happy” with the third place in the tournament won by the national team
He was once again noticed: “We were not laughing at you. What is the problem?”.
Lovren retorted, “You’re not proud.” And he continued to reproach the journalists: “My good ones, you did not believe in me from the very beginning … And now you are laughing at it.” Then he was completely carried away: “In general, you stink. You and this lady,” he told the media.
“I laugh at your reaction,” one of the journalists replied to him.
A recording of this skirmish was published on the publication’s website 24sata.
After the scandal, Croatian Football Union representative Tomislav Pacak was forced to apologize for Lovren’s behavior.
Croatia beat Morocco 2-1.
