UK to allocate $32 million to strengthen cybersecurity in Ukraine
Ukraine in the next two years will receive up to 25 million pounds (32 million dollars) to strengthen its cybersecurity. The money will be allocated to Kyiv by the British government. This was announced in a statement released on Saturday by the office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak.
The money is meant to protect critical infrastructure. The document states that the strengthening of Ukraine’s cyber defense capabilities will allow “to detect and prevent cyber threats from Russia and respond to them.”
Last year, the UK government announced the launch of the Ukrainian Cyber Program project. Initially, 6.35 million pounds (8.14 million dollars) were allocated for measures designed to increase the readiness of Ukrainian government resources for cyber attacks. As part of the second stage, 16 million pounds will be allocated to Kyiv by Great Britain, another 9 million by other Western allies.
On June 21, the International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine will begin its work in London. During it, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will invite businesses to “join the counter-offensive against Russia by supporting Ukraine with investments.”
