British Defense Minister Ben Wallace spoke out against the participation of the Russian Federation in the investigation of incidents on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

“I always think it’s best to keep the fox out of the chicken coop,” the British defense chief told the Telegraph newspaper.

Any potential offer of assistance from Russia, he stressed, will not be accepted during the investigation. However, since the incidents took place in international waters, if Moscow wants to conduct its own investigation, “nothing can be done to stop it,” Wallace said.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side was alarmed by statements from Denmark and Sweden about the exclusion of our country from the investigation into the situation on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Peskov noted that the participation of the Russian Federation should be mandatory.

The Russian Foreign Ministry last week also commented on the beginning international investigation. The official representative of the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the situation, also switched to characteristics from the world of fauna.
