Last Tuesday, Lokomotiv hosted the capital’s Spartak on their ice at Arena 2000. Last season this club was not considered the strongest. And currently, the capital’s Spartak team is confidently leading in the “West” conference, having managed to displace Dynamo Nizhny Novgorod from its leadership position.
The home team opened the scoring in the game. At the beginning of the first period, Ivan Chekhovich was able to hit the visitors’ goal with a pass from Daniil But. “Spartak” responded quite quickly, equalizing the score. At the very end of the first period, Daniil But, with Andronov’s feed, again brought the team ahead.
The score remained unchanged for the remaining two periods. In the third period, Lokomotiv did not try to attack, but clearly “dry” the score. The guests tried to equalize, but failed. As Lokomotiv head coach Igor Nikitin admitted in a post-match interview, the team was greatly helped by goalkeeper Egor Isaev, who saved the team from a return goal several times with his masterly play.
The result of the match is 2-1 in favor of Lokomotiv. As a result of the game, the Yaroslavl club rose to third place in the West conference table.
