Lokomotiv again lost to a conference outsider at home

The Yaroslavl hockey club hosted the Sochi HC team on its field on January 24. And it was a shame to lose to the outsider of the “West” conference.

This is the third meeting of the clubs this season. The first, at Lokomotiv’s home field, also ended in a loss. The Railwaymen lost at home with a score of 0-5. The second meeting, in the Olympic capital, was victorious for Lokomotiv. But Lokomotiv again lost their next home game to the Sochi Cats.

The Sochi team scored in the first period. And they consolidated their success in the second, shooting into Bocharov’s goal again. In the third period of the game, Igor Nikitin, the head coach of Lokomotiv, removed Ivan Bocharov and put a newcomer, Alexei Melnichuk, in goal.

Lokomotiv failed to equalize the score in the third period. But the home team were able to “soak” him. Andrei Sergeev was able to score a goal “in the locker room” to the opponent in the last minute.

Despite the defeat, the Lokomotiv team retains leadership in the West conference.
