The head coach of Lokomotiv-Kuban Alexander Sekulich made it to the quarterfinals of the World Basketball Championship together with the Slovenian national team. The 45-year-old specialist combines 2 positions.
The World Cup is hosted by Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. The Slovenian team outplayed the teams of Venezuela (100:65), Georgia (88:67) and Cape Verde (92:77) in the first group stage. In the second group stage, the Slovenians defeated the Australian team with a score of 91:80. Regardless of the outcome of the final match against Germany, which will be held on September 3, Alexander Sekulich’s wards will play in the quarterfinals. There, their opponent will be someone from group “L”, where the national teams of Latvia, Spain, Canada and Brazil are fighting for the right to play in the playoffs.
