As unrest mounts following the killing of a 17-year-old by police, Lyon Mayor Gregory Doucet on Saturday asked for additional police forces to be sent to the city. Later, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced that the authorities would send a significant contingent of police and gendarmerie to Lyon and Marseille. The Figaro newspaper previously reported, citing a police source, that seven police officers were shot during the riots in Lyon.
