The library of electronic and audio books “LitRes” will remove from sale books in which the authors confirm the description of non-traditional sexual relations, since the responsibility under the law on LGBT propaganda will be borne by the service and the copyright holder. The company will return the books to the shelves if the authors change the text.
“Last week they received letters from us asking them to check their works for LGBT propaganda. All books for which the copyright holders confirm the presence of LGBT propaganda will be removed from sale at a time, ”said Evgenia Selivanova, director of the LitRes content development department (quoted from TASS).
The press service of the company said that the authors were asked to edit the text, which may contain propaganda of non-traditional relationships. “If no response is received from the author, we will independently analyze the text and make a decision on the further sale of the book on the site,” the company said.
Some works have already been withdrawn from sale, the press service said. At the moment, the number of such books is no more than 1%. On November 24, LitRes announced its readiness to remove books with LGBT propaganda from sale. On the same day, “Labyrinth” removed such literature from sale. In particular, more than 200 books were filmed in the Youth Literature section.
On December 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on a complete ban on LGBT propaganda in Russia. In particular, responsibility is provided for the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations in books.
Read about the law in the material “Kommersant” “Of all the evils, the Duma chose the geisha.”
