Lisa Marie Presley death details revealed

Lisa Marie Presley, singer and daughter of ‘King of Rock and Roll’ Elvis, has died at the age of 54. Presley was rushed to the hospital on Thursday evening after a suspected cardiac arrest.

The only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, singer Lisa Marie Presley, died at the age of 54 after being hospitalized suddenly on Thursday. Her mother, 77, confirmed Presley’s death later Thursday evening, according to The Guardian.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this deep loss. Thank you for your love and prayers. There will be no further comment at this time.”

Presley was rushed to the hospital from her home in Calabasas, California after being reported in cardiac arrest, according to TMZ. Her mother asked fans to pray for her daughter in a statement released when the news first broke.

Two days before she was hospitalized, the singer appeared with her mother at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles as part of a group of talent supporting Baz Luhrmann’s acclaimed biopic Elvis. Actor Austin Butler won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama award that evening for his portrayal of the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

Presley praised Butler for his performance, saying, “I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw that. It took me about five days to realize it because it was so incredible, so accurate and just so authentic.”

Lisa Marie Presley was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. When her parents divorced, Presley moved to Los Angeles with her mother, but soon returned to her father’s home in Memphis.

When Elvis died in 1977, nine-year-old Presley became the joint heir to his fortune with her grandfather, Vernon Presley, and her great-grandmother, Minnie Mae Hood Presley. When she was 25 years old, Presley was the sole surviving heir to a fortune then valued at US$100 million. In 2005, she sold most of her shares to Industrial Media.

In 1997, Presley released the album Don’t Cry Daddy as a duet with vocals from her father to mark the 20th anniversary of his death. She later followed her father’s path in music with the release of three albums: To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005) and Storm & Grace (2012).

Presley has been married four times. She was married to musician Danny Keough from 1988 to 1994, with whom she had two children: actor Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide in 2020 at the age of 27. In an essay for People magazine in 2022, Presley wrote that she felt “destroyed” after her son’s suicide.

Danny Keough and Presley remained close friends after their divorce, with Keough living in a guest house on her property until her death. TMZ reported that Keough performed CPR on Presley before paramedics arrived.

Presley married singer Michael Jackson 20 days after her divorce from Keogh, but they divorced a year and a half later; during this time, Presley convinced Jackson to settle child molestation charges out of court and enter rehab for his drug abuse.

“I believed that he did nothing wrong and that he was wrongly accused, and, yes, I began to fall in love with him,” she later told Jackson’s biographer. “I wanted to save him. I felt like I could do it.”

In 2000, she became engaged to musician John Ozaika, but broke off the engagement after meeting actor Nicolas Cage at a party. Cage and Presley got married in August 2002, but Cage filed for divorce in November.

Presley married her guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood in 2006 and they had twin daughters Harper and Finlay. Presley filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage.

Presley has been open about her struggles with opioid addiction, writing that she became addicted after the birth of her twins in 2008.
