The number of cases of identity theft in Russia increased after the blocking of American social networks. About it informed TASS with reference to the head of Roskomnadzor Andrey Lipov.

“As soon as we blocked them, we deprived the Americans of access to the ability to analyze our citizens’ behavior. What they had at hand became far away from them. Therefore, they went to attack our information systems, extracting “food” for their analytical systems,” Lipov said at the Army-2023 forum.

After a sharp surge in attacks on personal data in 2022, the process began to decline, however, according to the head of the department, the threat remains.

On June 2, it became known that Roskomnadzor began work on a mechanism for obtaining compensation through the State Services for users affected by data leaks.

This winter President Vladimir Putin instructed government until July 1, 2023 to consider introducing turnover fines for companies that have leaked personal data of Russians.
