Lipchans invented a tent to save people from indoor fires

It is shaped like a quarter of a drum.

A patent for an original method of rescuing people during indoor fires was developed and patented by scientists from the Lipetsk State Pedagogical University. Thanks to him, in the event of a fire, people will be able to hide in a tent hidden in the window frame.

The device is quite simple in execution. The main part of it, a kind of semi-tent, when disassembled, most of all looks like a fragment of a drum (about a quarter of it), leaning against the wall. Its frame consists of several U-shaped frames, and the awning is made of elastic non-combustible heat-resistant material. When assembled, the entire tent looks like a large “P” with the top rail above the top of the window, and the side rails running down the edges of the window to the floor, where they connect to the hinge. The whole structure is attached to the wall with the help of a platband, which also performs a decorative function. Opposite the window is a rectangular area tiled with minimal thermal conductivity. Under the window sill there is a telescopic air duct with a device for blowing air.

During a fire, the architraves are removed, the rear frame remains attached to the wall, and the front frame is lowered to the ground and attached to the site with special clamps. “P” turns into a tent, those who took refuge in it, lay out a telescopic air duct, turn on the device for pumping air and wait for the arrival of firefighters.
