Tactile floor signs for visually impaired and blind passengers have appeared in the Moscow Metro. They warn of obstacles along the route. Now such signs already exist at the Tretyakovskaya stations of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Kalininskaya lines, Rizhskaya of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line, Komsomolskaya of the Circle Line and Borovitskaya of the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line.
“On behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, we continue to increase the accessibility of travel on public transport for everyone,” notes Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maxim Liksutov. – We began to install tactile floor signs for visually impaired and blind passengers. They are used to mark safe routes, mark the starting points of routes and changes in direction of travel.”
By the end of the year, tactile floor signs will be placed at another 22 metro stations. The layout of tactile indicators is carried out in accordance with the set of rules and the national standard for such devices. The project is being implemented with the participation of the Moscow city organization of the All-Russian Society of the Blind.
Let us remind you that the tactile navigation system allows blind and visually impaired passengers to move around the city independently, taking into account safety rules, including using public transport.
