Liksutov: Moscow will share biometric fare payment technology with regions for free

Biometrics is one of the most promising systems for future technologies, says Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov. The facial recognition technology, which is used, among other things, to pay for travel in the capital, was developed and is the property of the Moscow government, its work does not depend on any IT company.
“What seems to be quite advanced and new now, I am sure that in a few years it will be something common, like receiving a salary on a bank card. The biometric payment system will enter our lives as a given in a few years. This is also economically justified. Plus it’s safe. Therefore, such things need to be dealt with, we need to look to the future. Without understanding what will happen tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, what trends will be, you will definitely stop in development.
If this or any other of our systems is of interest to some region, we will give it away completely free of charge. The law allows us to do this. We will help to integrate it, avoid errors, and help with maintenance. Therefore, the regions do not have to build their own systems,” said Maxim Liksutov.
The deputy mayor added that Moscow began to deal with many projects earlier than others. This is a modern ticket system, work with parking space, traffic management system, dedicated lanes and much more. Moscow is ready to share its experience and is sharing it with all regions of the Russian Federation.
