Librarians punished for “almost naked party” with foam striptease

A comic striptease on February 23 in the library of Severodvinsk angered the patriotic mayor

A video of a corporate party, which on the occasion of February 23 was organized for male employees at the Gogol Central Library in Severodvinsk, has spread on social networks. The footage captured how an artist in a life-size doll depicting a stripper danced for a small group of employees.

In the video, the “foam stripper” awkwardly sways to the beat of the music, brings one of the men to the center and begins to perform a lap dance. As the dance progresses, the artist begins to “undress” – to remove items of clothing from her foam body.

Judging by the reaction of the audience, everyone liked the performance and was perceived as exclusively comic, and not erotic. However, on social networks, where the video soon appeared, not everyone appreciated the humor, and a heated discussion began. Even the mayor of the city began to comment on the situation. To the local publication “Belomorkanal” Igor Arsentiev statedthat he doesn’t like it when people “do stupid things,” especially “on the eve of such an important holiday for the country.”

“Cultural sites, such as libraries, should teach our children patriotism,” the mayor said.

Further, the official “forbade” the librarians who watched the fake striptease from “attending farewell to our guys.” The mayor did not explain what kind of mourning events are being planned in Severodvinsk on the topic of SVO and whether he has the authority to prohibit anyone from attending the funeral. He also did not specify whether the library was accountable to him or the regional Ministry of Culture, but nevertheless demanded that the director of the institution resign. Finally, the corporate party participants should apologize to the mayor, the mayor himself believes.

“I hope that the leader and active participants in this action will have the conscience to make a public apology,” Arsentiev concluded.

Not everyone on social networks agreed with the mayor. Some participants in the discussion in local public pages also scolded librarians for “debauchery” and “partying at this time,” but the majority of comments were in support of the library. Users express the opinion that some activists and moralists have been slandering too much lately and, perhaps, enjoy denunciations and their consequences. Also, some commentators condemned the actions of the mayor, believing that he exceeded his powers and has no right to tell adults how to celebrate the holiday.

According to media reports, library director Irina Nesterenko has already written a statement of her own free will, and it has been granted.
