Lev Kolodny: reporter, researcher, Muscovite

Today, August 23, we congratulate our colleague, the excellent journalist Lev Kolodny, on his 90th birthday.
For me personally, Lev Efimovich is also a teacher. In 1974, he brought us, students of the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, to Moskovskaya Pravda to try our hand at reportage. Lev Kolodny himself was already a master at that time, the author of sensational materials about the history of Moscow, about its archaeological and cultural treasures.
No less loud were the series of his publications in two main areas – about paranormal phenomena and about the creative heritage of Mikhail Sholokhov. The topic of psychics, which has become boring for most of us today, only then appeared on the newspaper pages. And the reports, in essence the investigation, by Lev Kolodny seriously influenced the mood of the scientific community, the fate of such unique people as, for example, the famous Juna.
And the disputes about the authorship of Mikhail Sholokhov regarding the novel Quiet Flows the Don, it seems, have not subsided so far. Although the materials found by Lev Efimovich made it possible to quite definitely decipher the riddles of this amazing story.
In the late 1980s, a series of explosive publicistic speeches by Lev Kolodny on the pages of Moskovskaya Pravda became one of the brightest “perestroika” phenomena. The author demonstrated not only his own, special view of the history and toponymy of Moscow, but also an amazing knowledge of the subject and remarkable courage.
Actually, the entire professional biography of Lev Efimovich goes in this spirit. And love, the attention of many readers, the respect of colleagues have been accompanying a bright journalist for decades.
May it continue to be so! Happy birthday, Lev Efimovich! Health, new creative successes, peace in the soul and in the family!
