Less than a third of Russians handed over biometric data, the number of opponents of surrender exceeds the number of supporters

As shown survey VTsIOM, today more than half of Russians (55%) are familiar with the concept of “biometrics”. A total of 42% of the respondents faced the proposal to hand over biometric data, 29% agreed to it. In general, the survey recorded a neutral-negative attitude of Russians to the delivery of biometric data. The most common argument “against” is the invasion of privacy (collection of personal data, control/surveillance of a person, digital concentration camp). Reluctance, lack of trust, or lack of need were also often mentioned. Among the pros are security (including anti-fraud, data protection), transparency, simplicity and convenience.
