Police officers detained the coordinator of the “Left Front” Sergei Udaltsov on Red Square. As Mr. Udaltsov himself explained, the reason for the detention was an action that law enforcement agencies considered unauthorized.

“I was just detained during a rally of leftist forces on Red Square. The police said that now it is forbidden to unfurl red flags in the square… They put me on a police bus and are taking me to the Kitai-Gorod police station,” the message says in Telegram– Mr. Udaltsov’s channel.

Later, Sergei Udaltsov published a photo in which he holds a red flag with the symbols of the Left Front. In the photograph, about ten other people are standing next to Mr. Udaltsov. “The police department told me that they would draw up a protocol on holding an unauthorized rally on Red Square. How this is combined with the fact that I participated in an agreed event together with deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is unclear,” he added.

The action on Red Square, according to a message in Telegram-channel of Sergei Udaltsov, was organized in honor of the 144th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Stalin. It is specified that about 1 thousand people took part in it, who “expressed severe criticism of the socio-economic policy of the authorities and demanded to begin implementing comprehensive socialist reforms.”
