The Lebanese military tribunal has issued arrest warrants for two Russian citizens who are accused of spying for Israel, TASS reports.

The report said that the Russians had already been interrogated, after which they were accused of passing information to Israel that “endangered the security of Lebanon.”

At the same time, as noted, Lebanese or Arab citizens accused of spying for Israel, according to Lebanese law, can be sentenced in Lebanon, or go to jail for a long time.

Earlier it was reported that Russian diplomats in Lebanon are in touch with the Lebanese authorities on this issue. The Russian and his wife were detained at the Beirut airport. They are suspected of working for Israeli intelligence and visiting Lebanese regions where objects of the Shiite Hezbollah party are located.
