LDPR reported on the fulfillment of the precepts of Vladimir Zhirinovsky

The leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party on Monday spoke about the results of the work of their faction in the State Duma during the spring session. Party leader Leonid Slutsky called the past six months successful and noted that the Liberal Democratic Party remains a “forward in legislative work”, while maintaining its opposition. At the same time, it followed from the speeches of Mr. Slutsky and his colleagues that parliamentary successes, coupled with activity in representational activities, logically follow from the trends set by the late founder of the party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

The press conference at the TASS press center was opened by LDPR chairman Leonid Slutsky. “A successful parliamentary semester, very active,” he began and, following the already established political fashion, immediately called on all Russians to consolidate. “We are in an extremely difficult geopolitical situation,” the politician recalled. “And now, more than ever, we need to be shoulder to shoulder. Not only to political forces, but to all sane people.”

Rallying, according to Mr. Slutsky, is necessary “in the name of the president and his sound ideas”, “in the name of victory” and “in the name of the people”. In the LDPR itself, judging by the further speech of its leader, everything is already in order with unity. “As a party, we have become much stronger: there are more than 350,000 of us,” reported Leonid Slutsky. And he traditionally reminded of whose efforts all this became possible: “A little over a year without Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky. On July 28, we will celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, his heavenly patron, his name day.”

Turning to Duma statistics, Mr. Slutsky said that the number of bills submitted by LDPR deputies increased from 32 to 65 in terms of directly party initiatives and from 35 to 62 in collaboration with representatives of other factions. “A bit of a game of numbers: 32 and 65 and 35 and 62,” said the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party. “Nevertheless, we see that the growth here is almost twofold.” 41 bills with the participation of the Liberal Democrats reached the adoption in this session, he specified: “Out of 41, 36 were co-authored with deputies from other factions. Shoulder to shoulder, all together, but at the call of the Liberal Democratic Party.” The leader of the party considered such indicators to be “not bad”, but expressed hope that the party would improve them in the autumn session. “Although we are not chasing numbers,” the politician emphasized. “We are chasing quality.” The latter, according to Mr. Slutsky, is provided by the party’s legislative council, which “quite, very harshly filters out various shortcomings of any plan.”

The legislators paid special attention, as in the last session, to the protection of participants in the military operation in Ukraine and their families, said Leonid Slutsky. There were enough initiatives, so he considered it inappropriate to dwell on each separately, stipulating that the LDPR faction, “as under Zhirinovsky, remains a forward in legislative work.” “Yes, we are the opposition, and certainly the opposition, and we will remain such,” the politician assured, just in case, and added for the most obtuse: “But without the support of the ruling party, we cannot pass any bills.”

Among the “non-combat” initiatives, Leonid Slutsky singled out a ban on the sale of vapes to minors and criminal punishment for illegal collection activities. “I don’t know what is more disgusting: collection activities or vapes,” the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party reasoned. “b”) we submitted back in 2014, and Zhirinovsky was still saying then: “We will not stop seeking a ban on transferring the right to violence to private hands, they always abuse it.” True, Mr. Slutsky himself seemed to consider the last thought too comprehensive, preferring to narrow it down to the work of collectors, which entailed a lot of “such violations that it’s even unpleasant to talk about.”

Speaking next, the first deputy head of the faction, Sergei Leonov, recalled the importance of another legislative ban – sex change – and expressed the hope that the Liberal Democrats would also be able to ban television advertising of over-the-counter drugs in order to overcome the craving of Russians for self-medication. Well, as proof that the work of the Liberal Democratic Party is not limited to bans, the deputy spoke about the party project to support blood donors and red bone marrow.

Even more bright party initiatives were cited as an example by the deputy head of the faction, Yaroslav Nilov. He recalled the one-day OSAGO, the protection of the rights of equity holders and much more, and then smoothly moved on to projects that the Liberal Democrats have yet to “break through” through parliament. Among them, for example, a minimum wage of 30 thousand rubles, food and drug certificates, increased scholarships and benefits, payments for housewives, the abolition of the Unified State Exam, and so on. The culmination of this legislative offensive should be the postponement of the single voting day to spring, bequeathed by Vladimir Zhirinovsky. “We are a northern country, we all have to rest in the summer,” Mr. Nilov pointed out, explaining that work with voters in August turns into “incomprehensible fuss” due to the fact that citizens are concentrated on vacations in the summer.

However, this summer the Liberal Democrats will definitely not be able to rest. As Leonid Slutsky promised, the LDPR deputies will continue their work in the field (including the legislative one) even during the upcoming parliamentary holidays.
